TWALA is open to visitors BY PRIOR BOOKING ONLY from 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday, and all public holidays, except Christmas Day. There are guided tours of the wildlife sanctuary at 10:30am and 2:30pm, and lion feeding at 4pm daily.
Twala guide Collin Mwatupa has lived and worked with the rescued residents of the sanctuary for many years and he offers a personal, fascinating and often amusing insight into the work done at Twala and the histories of the many animals that we care for.
Twala also offers School and Group Educational Tours where we run animal welfare and conservation education programmes.
There are picnic and braai sites beautifully situated beside the dam and in the lush gardens which also offers a swimming pool for children and bream fishing in the dam (catch and release). A small coffee shop offers drinks and homemade cakes, including the famous Twala Fridge Cake. The gardens are populated by free ranging small antelope, tortoises, domestic cats and exotic birds, including peacocks and cockatoos.
Twala is a haven for wild birds and boasts magnificent indigenous trees and pristine African bushveld.
